Absolute beginners

We cover the basic steps and introduce you to partner work.  We also work on timing, helping you to understand how to dance to both slow and faster tracks.

Each week we add a small variation to the beginners class which runs on approximately an six week cycle.  If it is your first time don't worry we repeat the basic steps in the beginner's class every week.

Beginner's classes last an hour.

We encourage beginners to stay after their lesson to watch the other lessons and to have a drink at the bar.  If you stay until the lessons have finished, the last hour is a practice hour and the teachers are on hand to help you practise the steps you have learnt in your class.

Improvers 1

Once you have mastered the basic steps we suggest you move up to the next level.  At this level we develop your partner work and introduce you to basic turn patterns and combinations.  It's at this point that you start to feel that you are really dancing!

We will also introduce you to shines at this point.  Shines are specific salsa steps that are danced solo.  We use a shine routine each week for our warm up for both the Improvers 1 and Improvers 2 classes.

Improvers 2

We would expect that after spending eight to ten weeks in the Improvers 1 class you are ready to move up to Improvers 2.  This is a more difficult class than Improvers 1.  The emphasis is still on enjoyment and fun but in this class we concentrate on helping you learn longer and more complicated turn patterns.  We also cover more difficult shines in this class.

Intermediate

This is the most difficult class that we teach and is only suitable for those dancers that have been dancing for at least several months. The lesson aims to teach not only more complicated turn patterns but also to help dancers with their styling and timing.
